Condolences to the Hopkins Family

The National Bird Dog Museum and the field trial sport lost a great friend with the loss of David H. Hopkins on August 7. David was well known in Springer Spaniel field trial circles. He served on the board of the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Club of Illinois, was the first president of the Springer Foundation, was an American Kennel Club delegate, and was also a board member of the AKC Canine Health Foundation.

David's was a partner in a prominent law firm in Chicago and it was through this occupation that he made a significant contribution to the Bird Dog Foundation - he updated the Foundation's bylaws, an involved and time-consuming task that he generously did pro bono.

David and his wife Marie owned Melchris Kennels and bred seventeen successful open and amateur Springer Spaniel champions.

David passed away on August 7 at the age of 75. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hopkins family.
