Delmar Smith - The Passing of a Legend

The National Bird Dog Museum is mourning the loss of the one of the legends of the field trial world and a board member of the Bird Dog Foundation - Delmar Smith. Delmar passed away on September 19 at 100 years of age. He participated in field trials or conducted bird dog training seminars in all 50 states and in 14 foreign countries. Throughout his field trial career, Delmar received a long list of accolades - including induction into the Pointer/Setter Field Trial Hall of Fame in 1998, induction into the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame in 2000, receiving the T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportmans Award in 2016, and being dubbed the "World's Coolest Man" by Field and Stream magazine. Delmar will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have met him. The staff and board of the Bird Dog Foundation would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his sons, Rick and Tom, and their families.
